When he was about a year old, he was outside and had been so for awhile.
I went out to the back deck to so something, I don't really remember what. He's by a corner of the house where we had a thick bush, and as he's pouncing around at something, I hear "squeak!'
At that point, he had like 3 squeak toys, so I think nothing of it.
A minute later, still in that same spot "Squeak!" I think, "Hmm, I don't remember him getting a squeak toy outside, but certainly one of the kids or my wife could have been playing fetch with him.
Minute or 2 later...."Squeak!" Suddenly it occurs to me....if it was a squeak toy, he'd be tossing it around the yard, chasing it, laying down and chewing at it and so on. Not just standing at that same spot. So I start thinking "Uhoh, he might have gotten some animal", and I go over there to see.
I have no idea of how quickly baby rabbits grow, so I can't guess the age, but yeah, he's got a rabbit over there that is much bigger than my hand, so it's definitely not a newborn or anything like that, but it's also definitely not full grown. I don't know if it was injured, or just scared from a big dog standing right over it.
Chewy would put his face closer to it every so often and go to pick it up, presumable gently because if he really BIT, it would have been bleeding and likely dead. I got the dog away, got a towel to pick it up and took it back over to the woods. Checking a little later, it had hopped away from where I left it.
