Did Elizabeth Berkley really have a career prior to Showgirls?

Yes, I know she was a star on the TV show Saved By The Bell, but she appeared in 1 episode for 3 different TV shows and 2 made-for-TV movies prior to Saved By The Bell. If anything, Saved By The Bell probably typecast her from getting other roles which may explain why she decided to star in the movie. Honestly, I never expected any of the actors/actresses on Saved By The Bell to have superstar careers beyond possibly being a big name TV star.

Out of curiosity, do you think Showgirls ruined Gina Gershon's career or Kyle MacLachlan's career? I ask because those 3 were probably the biggest names to appear in the movie. FWIW it appears that all 3 have been able to work regularly/somewhat regularly on various projects post Showgirls.
