Massive Win 10 performance issue with my Asus notebook

Anytime I do anything, my disk activity spikes to 100 percent and my machine locks up. It stays locked up for a few seconds up to several minutes.

I Googled this issue and the best page I found has a number of fixes but none of them worked.
