House I bought once had one room that a couple of dogs treated
as their own trough urinal.
Carpet needed replacing anyway when we bought the house, so I figured that would take care of it. Luckily, the carpet installers called mid-job and said after they pulled out the old carpet, it was still pretty bad.
Thus began about a month-long saga to eliminate the urine smell in that room. Sprayed the subfloor with Nature's Miracle, twice. Removed and threw away the tack strips and the baseboards. Rented an ozone generator for the weekend. Then finally painted everything from about waist level down to the subfloor with two coats of Kilz. It may have been overkill, but it did work.
