Pretty easy for me. Coworkers, vendors, and customers are programmed in


my directory. And if someone out of the blue calls who really does need to talk to me, they leave a message.

Maybe if you are in sales, it is a bit different, though.

All that said, I have officially dispensed with any measure of courtesy or politeness when it comes to telemarketers. I don't even bother with "no thank you" or "not interested." I just hang up before they get two words out. And I don't feel like a bad person for one second doing it.
