Some of your repair or debris removal expenses (if any) might be covered as well. The only catch is your deductible. You can't say, for example, "Well, my deductible is $4000 and the expenses are $2000 so I'm filing a claim to get back out of pocket expenses" because the $4000 deductible was a choice you made to save money long-term. Any expenses not covered by insurance can be reimbursed.

It's up to you if you want to apply or not, though. Most of the applications we get are for the full $2500, but we get a fair number that are under $1000 too. If it truly was just gas money you're out -- $100 or $200 to get to Alabama and back -- then maybe it's not for you. But if you start adding in food, hotel, cleanup, repair of the pool enclosure if eligible, etc., and it's creeping up to $1000 ... then I'd at least think about it.
