Yeah, and I'm really not too thrilled about that.
It seemed like the quality of Craftsman products really went downhill, and I just never really got into their tools. I shop at Lowe's a lot and had come to appreciate their Kobalt line, because they offered a wide variety, the prices were pretty good (especially when they put stuff on clearance - I have literally gotten tool sets for more than 50% off that way), and the warranty (lifetime) on hand tools is equivalent to Craftsman's. However, now that Lowe's purchased the Craftsman brand, it seems they are phasing out the Kobalt tools (at least at my local store - the Kobalt section racks/shelves are virtually empty), I'm guessing to make way for the Craftsman tools. I'm interested to see how the prices compare. If Craftsman stuff is a lot pricier than Kobalt, I guess I'll be heading to Harbor Freight more often. I have had pretty good luck with their Pittsburgh hand tools, and have never been hassled on the rare occasion that something broke - I was given an equivalent product with no questions asked.
