I had an electrician put a portable generator receptacle outside on my

brick wall and set up an emergency breaker panel beside my major panel box, I have a large switch . that says Power company power off . When I lose power I turn off the breaker box for the power company and plug the generator in and slowly turn each breaker on in the emergency panel.

My generator (8400) will run heat, lights, refrigerators and stand alone freezers and well pump.
Minus, still have to take colds showers

Comes in handy about 4 times a year. And if you are married and have kids its a plus.
