....it has been decimated by attrition. The two cornerbacks are completely lost. Farley may be a great athlete but he is mentally lost out there. He makes me wonder if he has every played cornerback because he lacks the basic fundamentals and technique. Bryce Watts is also lost out there and he isn't the athlete that Farley is. Linebackers are young but ok. Ashby is a good one. The D Line is decent at best. I know everyone lauds Ricky Walker because he is the leader and is one of the best on our defense but how does he stack up to DEs in the past? I think he is solid at best-I don't see him sticking in the pros. His foot speed is not good enough for the NFL. Our DEs have typically been very good. Our DEs now are very average. This is an average to below average defense with a really bad defensive backfield except for Reggie Floyd. I think Georgia Tech will tear this defense up with their triple option. As far as the offense how can you say they are a disappointment? This is the weakest set of running backs we have had since Beamer started in 87. Steven Peoples from Galax is our number one running back-let that sink in. The OL is showing that they are average. I attribute this to poor recruiting. We haven't had good offensive lines in a while. We basically don't use the TEs so that is a non-factor. WR is probably our strength but Willis can't seem to spread the ball around. Willis can be a good one. He has the arm and the speed to be good. He needs to learn how to handle pressure better. Josh Jackson is physically inferior to Willis but he didn't melt under pressure-he took the sack or threw it away. He rarely made bad plays under pressure. I really do think that 6-5 will be a good coaching job by Fuente. Now-what two teams will we beat to get those two wins? Not can we beat, but will we beat? No game left on our schedule is a certain win nor a certain loss. I would say BC and Miami/Virginia are our two wins to get to 6-5 and a bowl game.
