Is it a sweet house? Do you love it?


Were you planning on changing the carpet anyway?

Though you might be losing out the $3600 for the carpet, it sounds like it is annoying the heck out of you and the previous owners are going to be a pain in the butt. And with closing complete, the stakes got much harder for you.

If you pursue this in court, it is going to keep eating at you for weeks and could be a zero-sum game, or worse, cost you more in attorney fees.

If you just cut your losses, you get to enjoy new carpet without the added stress for the next few or several weeks and move on with your life.

That's how I look at things these days. Times to short to be all bent-out-of-shape. Plus, I LOVE new carpet that I know the history of. It's usually the first thing replaced in any home I buy. Unless it is completely new... but even then, they usually put in the cheapest stuff imaginable just for the sale.
