A couple of years ago, news broke that France was sitting on 2.4 Billion or so yet still was increasing tuition at historic levels. Some lawmakers were clamoring for them to return the state tax dollars to the state general fund. This did not happen.

Since then, the endowment fund has done well and has grown to 9.5 BILLION. as of September of 2018.
