Would like to go with a Sony for my next, but with technology moving as fast as it does, might follow CPRV's advice and go with a much less expensive option. I've heard their picture quality was excellent.

I had a rear projection 1080i Sony television that just wouldn't die. I finally gave up and bought my current 1080p Samsung LCD television. I'll move to 4K when it dies, so I won't be shedding any tears...lol
