Agree with your comments too.

I posted a day or two ago on another thread here - someone was commenting on Iowa having only 5 of 10 regular starters during an early season dual - about the greater emphasis now among top tier teams in carefully managing wear and tear on individual wrestlers (especially highly ranked guys) during the regular season to keep them tuned but injury free for the late season tournaments.

That same philosophy would apply whether it involves deciding who wrestles during a dual or a tough mid-season tournament. Undoubtedly even more-so regarding a tough mid-season tournament.

Coaches constantly weighing the need for tougher competition versus potential wear and tear or burnout.
