Fantasy football free for 3 years now. I don't miss it a bit.
I was obsessed enough for a few years that I thought of myself as an expert. It became a grind, because while there is a lot of luck, for sure, the best players work hard at the waiver wire each and every week, which takes a ton of research to do it well. I'd spend a couple hours on it most Waiver Wire Tuesdays or Wednesdays across multiple leagues and began to dread those nights. It felt like a work obligation. The last year I did it, I was down to one league, thought I would enjoy and still hated it, so I quit. I'm as proud as a smoker who quit!
It started off that it made the games more fun to watch. Before I knew it, I stopped watching the games altogether and started just following the stats. At that point, what's the point?
