Just my guess, based on Mike's video below........................

You have a single jet leading (beginning) the fly-by, followed by four 4-ships in a diamond formation, followed by the traditional fingertip 4-ship in which #3 pulls up as the missing man. The diamond 4 ship formations are symmetrical and probably done just for aesthetic purposes.
