They do not give out merit aid or athletic schollies. Everything is financially based, but is generous if you qualify and based on sliding scale for income levels -- important point is that it is NOT different for regular student body or athletes. Athletes do not get "extra" and this is a myth.

HOWEVER, if your child is a promising athlete the admission process can be tweaked to be more relaxed and get you in when your academic credentials would not by themselves. AND if your family income levels qualify for financial aid, then you will likely get generous tuition assistance as well. So a good athlete that qualifies for financial aid can get an Ivy league education for the same financial burden as a State school.

The real students that get screwed are the smart ones with moderately wealthy (but not filthy rich) parents. These students do not qualify for aid and whether they play sports or not...they will always be full pay and at $75k pr year COA that can be steep for anyone.
