A friend of mine moved there this summer. I visited in October

She lives one town outside of Amsterdam proper. We stayed at her house, as well as in the city for a few days. I loved the public transportation. We walked a couple of blocks to the train station, a few minutes later we were in Amsterdam and then hopped on/off bus throughout the city. The bikes are more dangerous than the red lights! There are definitely some sights I can not unsee.

The Anne Frank house and the Rijksmuseum were our major touristy jaunts.

Her husband rented a boat/captain and server for a dinner tour along the canals for her birthday. That was amazing.

Next time I go, I want to visit the Netherlands American Cemetery https://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries-memorials/europe/netherlands-american-cemetery#.XBFxk2nwZEY
