Dentist once told me I was flossing too much and to cut back on it.

It was harming my gums.

I learned about forming a habit when I was about 9 years old. In trying to get myself and my two sisters to brush our teeth regularly my mom put a monthly day-by-day chart on the back of the bathroom door. If you brushed your teeth that day you got a star for that day on the chart. At the end of each month the winner got a toy of their choice (within reason). I regularly beat my sisters into oblivion. It got to where I had to brush my teeth after every meal (because the feeling of the food residue on them bothered me). Then I learned about "floss" . . .

I've got great teeth though. These days I'll brush my teeth once, sometimes twice, a day and usually floss once.
