Most lacrosse players come from middle to upper middle class familes.
They probably spend less money on club/travel teams than softball. Women's lacrosse scholarships are likely easier to get since there has been a significant increase in D-1 WLAX programs due to Title IX. Softball is played nationally while lacrosse was mostly regional (DC to Boston) for a long time until the last 10-15 years when it has become more of a national sport. In the past, it was true that many lacrosse players came from wealthy families but that isn't as true as it once was. I know about 2 dozen families who had children play D-1 lacrosse and none of them were driving expensive cars or lived in million dollar homes in gated communities. I guess lacrosse still gets perceived that way today even though it isn't really true. I'd group lacrosse with soccer (suburban soccer moms with mini vans or utility vehicles). Club Lacrosse, Softball, soccer, volleyball, …. it's all time consuming and expensive, but all of you parents who are involved already know this.
