MLB free agent = 6 years of service time, on the 25-man roster
Even with a top prospect, they can sometimes spend 3-4 years in the minors (sometimes to *specifically* delay the 6-year clock).
So yes, MLB has more $100M contracts -- but it can take ~ 10 years for a player to arrive there.
That's where people are reaaaaaaaaaaaalllly goofing-up the Murray MLB/NFL money decision. They talk about the big MLB money, but what if Murray never becomes an above-average player? Nevermind the time-value of money. Hooray, he *might* get a big MLB contract in............2027???????
