that he has to take the lead in leadership role at this point since he's the head coach and it's obvious that no one else wants to take it. He talked about Justin Robinson's leadership vs. Syracuse. Robinson has been with Buzz for 4 years. He was recruited by Buzz and has gone through growing pains to become the leader he is today. We lost Chanette Hicks, who would've been our senior PG this season. Kenny and Chanette weren't always on the same page. Chanette's personal problems just made matters worse between Kenny and her. I was hoping that our seniors would lead, but after 7 ACC games, we have no one stepping up. It would seem logical that Magarity and Camp would lead the team since they both have been at Tech for 5 long years. Unfortunately, neither appears to want to lead. Magarity is a model student and a wonderful human being, but seems uncomfortable about being the leader. It seems to be out of her comfort zone which is okay with me. Camp is another model student and has shown to be a great team player but she's been through a lot mentally with Wolff and even with Kenny (in the early stages), so maybe that's why she doesn't want to lead? They both were recruited by Dennis Wolff. When Kenny took over, he had a team load of mentally scarred players. Players who were always looking to the bench hoping that they didn't piss off the head coach. Most of them played with fear when Wolff was the coach. Kenny is almost a 180 from Dennis. I was hoping that after 2 seasons, Kenny would have developed confidence in his players. Before conference play began, I thought he had but I was completely wrong. Maybe Emery takes the leadership role, but she is a JUCO transfer. That tends to be the problem with JUCO transfers. They're gone before we know it. Is there hope in the younger players like Sheppard and Mabrey? I honestly think so, but does an underclassman want to rock the boat and take the leadership role over players who have been there for 4-5 years? I think Dara Mabrey could be a great leader for us in the near future. Justin Robinson wasn't a leader in his first two seasons at Tech because frankly, he wasn't suppose to be. That is for the players who've been around for 3-4 years. I like the fire in Mabrey and in Sheppard to a lesser degree. Maybe after Wolff's players are gone, the bad mojo will leave. I just hope that it's not contagious and our younger players have caught it.
