Waitress had a strong southern accent. With your lunch you got dessert, which happened to be sheet cake that day. But with her accent, the "ee" came out sounding like an "i". So imagine how we felt when she came out and said:
Her: "With your lunch we are serving 'sheet cake'"
Me: "Excuse me?"
Her: "We have 'sheet cake'".
Me: "Really?"
Her: "Yes".
Me: "Do people eat that here?"
Her: "Yes, it's quite good"
We all looked at each other and burst into laughter. She looked puzzled for a moment they realized what we were laughing at. She had a good laugh, got a very nice tip, and we all had a story to tell.
