Saw them play Sunday and agree there is cause for optimism

All three pitchers looked good vs SHS - as they must have in the first two games based on the impressive statistics. Gerard (another Freshman) and Alford (another JC transfer) looked good and Brzykcy was dominant - only one inning but he looked nasty.

Fielding was very good. I missed a few plays in the 4th and missed an error. Otherwise, there were a few stellar plays with the glove.

We worked the count often and really made the other pitchers work hard. I was very impressed with the plate discipline.

We ran a little bit (hit and run) but were a bit conservative on the base paths.

My biggest worry is that we did not really hit well. 10 strikeouts and not a lot of great contact... But,I know nothing about the parade of pitchers Sam Houston rolled out.

The players in the dugout were loud and into the game the entire time. Much more involved than the SMS players. They seemed to be having fun and appeared to really like each other.

The Hokie fans there (mostly family of the players) were super-friendly.

Oh, and last comment - Stetson was excellent last year, but they did go 0-3 this weekend, including a loss to Manhattan.
