My take....though I have reservations of both of them from a team perspective and glad the teams I follow have passed on both..

Machado is a + defender, Harper is not

Machado is a more consistent and reliable hitter, Harper is more streaky.

Harper's swing is too violent and it's likely he is going to begin having physical issues sooner.
