Did they give you a reason?

I can see two reasons for someone to be particular about this:

1 - They have an extensive network of filters in place to get every email into the right folder so it can be dealt with accordingly. In this era where we get hundreds (if not thousands) of emails a day, managing the overflow of information can almost be a full time job itself. If you have managed to come up with a way to not spend half your day simply sorting emails, I can respect that. And people who don't follow somewhat standard protocols with email subject lines will throw your system off.

2 - They are either OCD or just a busybody who is only happy nitpicking other people's perceived imperfections. In which case, all loungeworthy responses apply.
