Wow. Hoosband and I were in a fiery wreck once and got nothing.


I was driving the suburban. He was following me in the mercedes 450ML. We were in the left lane and traffic stopped. I stopped. Hoosband stopped behind me. The lady in the BMW 3 series behind Hoosband stopped. The I happen to glance in my rearview mirror and see/hear a Jeep Liberty in the air, turn to the side and upon landing burst into flames. Evidently a guy on his cell phone behind the lady in the Jeep did not see her stop and rammed her at about 55 mph. A guy in a car behind him then hit him. It was the most horrific thing I've seen. Lady in the Jeep was trapped in her car because it landed on it's side and flames were huge. We all tried to help but the flames were huge. Someone finally found a cinderblock and threw it through the windshield and miraculously she crawled out. She was severely burned on hands and back but survived.

So, the end result for us was that Hoosband's mercedes was totaled. It had damage in the back, but most of the damage was in the front, where it was pushed into my suburban trailer hitch that went through the a/c and engine. Nary a scratch on my Suburban. 9 years later I still have the Suburban. We did not say we were injured so got no money for injuries. Lost a ton of money on the totaled mercedes, which we had just picked up from a $600 service. Insult to injury. ugh.
