Money is fungible. Why should EV owners pay taxes on energy twice?


The problem is how the state allocates funds, not that portion of revenue is missing.

So the fee they should pay to be an equal share should credit them for that and reallocate that from general funds to road maintenance funds. Then what ever is left would be a separate fee.

If the goal is to make what ICE and EV owners pay more equitable, than you can't just ignore certain costs paid to the state to operate the vehicle because the newly generated revenue falls into a now outdated category.
