Fresh water is much less damaging than salt water exposure.

I know boats are made to withstand the effects of salt water, but...

Would love to own a boat, but wouldn't buy one unless I lived on a lake. Being able to just walk over and jump in is much better than having to trailer it to a boat ramp every time you want to take a spin around the lake.
