I hope this isnt considered a political post. If so, I am happy for the moderators to delete it. I renewed my CCP yesterday. And I am starting to wonder if its a waste of time to even have it. Just this week I read about an older gentleman who was attacked and badly beaten by a much younger man. It sounded like it was just a random attack and the young guy just wanted to beat the hell out of someone.The older man was carrying a hand gun and shot the younger one. It was not fatal. The old guy was convicted and sentenced to prison. What made me pay attention to this was I had a friend who's brother experienced the same thing. My friends bother was legally blind. He was attacked and was being beaten by his girl friends ex. He didn't even know the guy or why he was being beaten. He pulled his pistol and shot the guy. Again, it wasn't fatal. He ended up in prison for a year. So I guess unless you are shot or stabbed first, its very likely you could face jail for defending yourself against an unprovoked, violent attack. Like my retired law enforcement friend said, its up to the mood of the jury. And evidently the authorities will send it to a jury almost everytime. Just my opinion. But if you are the victim of an unprovoked, random act of violence you should have the legal authority to defend yourself without fear of reprisal. You never know when a blow or kick to the head could be fatal.
