Drawing conclusions about a person's motives from a related outcome implies the outcome is entirely under the person's control -- which of course, it isn't. It implies that the outcomes are entirely determined by how much the person "wants" the outcome. This is, of course, entirely wrong and any thinking person knows it.

Otherwise, half the posters on this message board would be billionaires -- because, I assume, lots of people "want" to be billionaires.
