Maybe if I lived somewhere with reasonably priced flights

I'd be more impressed with the relative affordability of flying compared to the golden days of flight.

But when ROA is your starting point, pretty much nothing costs under $600. Which means every plane trip I take starts with a 2 to 5 hour long drive to get to a more reasonably priced airport.

So flying being affordable just isn't a world I live in.
