Whenever I used my turn signal to "merge" into the next lane...

...whoever was in that lane would immediately speed up to close the gap, preventing me from merging. It wasn't once, but every time I used my turn signals. I eventually stopped using them to merge. I only used them to signal my turns in Miami.

I have to admit I experience the same thing on 58 returning from Suffolk, but only once. After several attempts to merge, and having this jerkwad speeding up to block me, I waited until he dropped back to his normal 50 yard following distance and merged without signaling. He started flashing his high beam lights at me for the next two minutes. He didn't take the left lane (that I had just left and was clear), he just wanted to try to irritate me by flashing his lights. Really wanted to flip him off, but didn't want to provoke the idiot any further. I just laughed and kept driving.
