Im not an expert, but Im also considering replacing my Time Capsule as well

I think Im going to go the NAS route, using a 2 bays, one mirroring the other - probably going with 8TB each. 3 MacBookPros, an iMac, 2 iPads and 3 iPhones, and a 3TB portable HD I take on the road for pics, videos, etc, are too much for the Time Capsule.

Also going to replace all my network (3 Airport Extremes) with the Google mesh set up and add a switch and VPN so that I connect from anywhere in the world. Still researching, wish I could help. The WD My Cloud Home looks like a pretty simple set up, when I looked at, just not functional enough for how I'm looking to go.
