That time lapse probably speaks a bit to the backwardness of my hometown. But I could identify with several aspects of that film -- including the element of hazing that was something of a right of passage into the broader social circle. My experience was very much like the character of Mitch Kramer -- going through a hazing process (no paddling involved in my case) and then almost immediately thereafter hanging out and partying with the same upperclassmen who administered it.
