Seriously, however, the reality is that no single encounter will change a pattern of a life most of the time.
I read a book to the kids yesterday called "Chrysanthemum". It's about a little girl mouse who is picked on because her long name. When people pick on her, she wilts. When people praise her, she blooms. Later in the school day, the teacher had me give the kids a worksheet with two large boxes on it: "I wilt when ____________. I bloom when ____________." The little girl wrote that she wilts when her Dad leaves. She blooms when her Dad comes by.
