This is kind of surreal for me because my wife's parent's had a home just around a bend in the road from the airport. We would sit on the front porch and watch the planes come in and out. A local Missionary training center trains pilots to fly in mountainous conditions in that area based in Elizabethton. Their little prop planes were always making loops around the hills and doing touch and goes.
