Bowles gets death sentence

A Jacksonville judge yesterday ordered a death sentence for Gary Ray Bowles, who was convicted of killing a San Pablo man and is accused in five other brutal slayings in Florida, Georgia and Maryland.

Hinton's killing is one of six that Bowles is accused of committing along the East Coast in 1994. Bowles, of Clifton Forge, Va., frequented homosexual bars, hustling men in exchange for lodging and money. All the victims were bludgeoned, strangled or shot.
