unless the goal/motivation was only top line oriented. In that scenario, expenses are likewise overstated with a net balance sheet effect of 0. Unusual situation? Sure. Unheard of? No. If the goal is meeting top line targets for whatever reason(i.e., revenue growth, bonuses, etc.). You are also correct in the fun of the audit year with the threat of the SEC looking over the shoulder.
