Proper response when you're invited to a baby shower for someone you barely

know?

A little background. My daughter is in a sailing camp last week and this week. Yesterday when I picked her up, one sailing instructor said "Oh, we're having a surprise baby shower for Shannon (the main camp counselor) on Friday at noon. You're invited if you would like to come. No gift is required, but she is looking for gender neutral items".

First off - no way I'm going, but I can picture my daughter being there as other people have some sort of gift. Would that embarrass her?

So should I:

A) Send some sort of small gift in?
B) Screw it. You're a camp counselor we had for 2 weeks. Never saw you before, likely won't see you again. I'm not giving you a shower gift.
C) Actually report it to the Club running the camp?

Note that I did talk to my daughter this morning on the drive in, and she's just fine with choice B. Won't be embarrassed at all. But still - seems pretty rude to me to be soliciting gifts from a slightly better than stranger for a slightly better than stranger.

Yes, choice D of flaming bag of poo would be an option.
