My trip to Colombia
Oct. 27 - Nov. 7. Trip of a lifetime. Yes I flew down to see a young lady Colombian I met on the internet hehe. We got along great and she showed me Medellin. We flew to the island of San Andres and stayed 5 nights at a resort. Our room had the perfect view of the ocean.
She speaks very little English and me no Espanol. Downside..2 days into my trip I left my phone by a lounge chair. Went back to get it and someone stole it. 2 days later she dropped her phone off of a dock into the ocean. We had no way to translate the rest of the trip haha. But we were able to communicate somehow and make it work.
I recommend Colombia to anyone who wants something different in a trip. It is extremely affordable and the people are very nice and hospitable.
Medellin..no other city like it. Beautiful yet very old. Traffic..more motorcycles than cars..I only saw 1 accident the entire time I was there which is a miracle. I have never seen traffic quite like they have.
The mountains surrounding the city are magnificent.
Almost no one speaks English. We took dozens of cab rides in Medellin. One cab driver did speak almost perfect English. He said he has visited the USA many times and loves it here..wants to move here one day. He has also been to Europe many times..all on a cabbie's salary. He interpreted for us during the cab ride haha.
Anyway this was a trip of a lifetime..I have no regrets. I plan on visiting again soon. She is working on her documentation to visit me here as well. Colombia tracks the whereabouts of their citizens and are very tough on where they travel. So for her to leave the country it will take time to get her travel visa.
