There are some real dummies working at the Auto Zone.

Last week my car battery started having issues starting my car. I check the alternator and made sure there were no drains. Checked my records and saw it was purchased in March 2018 although I couldn't find the receipt.
So I went to AutoZone and asked if they could look up a car battery purchase from March 2018. They put my phone number in the computer and *bing* it pops up. Great. I see the kind of battery I bought has a 2 year warranty. She comes out with their battery tester and sure enough, it's gone bad. We go inside and she tells me it'll be $139.99 to get the same one. I asked about the warranty and she tells me it comes with a 24 month warranty. So I ask what the $140 is for then. She said my battery isn't covered by warranty. I asked about the 24 month warranty. She said mine isn't under warranty anymore. I asked again about the warranty and she said it's 24 months. So I repeated that it was purchased 20 months ago as confirmed by their computer. Now she says that the battery I have is the cheap one that only comes with a 90 day warranty. I told her no, I have the one with the 24 month warranty and we can go back out to my car again to confirm it. And I also point out that she told me to replace with the one I already have is the 24 month warranty. We went round and round for about for about 45 minutes total until she finally does the warranty replacement. And it was a full replacement not a pro rated one. At no point does she say anything about pro rated or a change in warranty policy.

She sends some other employee to come out and do the battery swap. He removes the bolt that holds the strap down on top of the battery and proceeds to drop the bolt "somewhere" but can't find it. So after 45 minutes with the girls who doesn't know that 20 < 24, I have to lay on the parking lot to help find a bolt this guy dropped. I finally knock it loose from the plastic splash pan it fell onto. Eventually we get in, but that whole ordeal was another 30 minutes of my life I won't get back.

I wasn't even mad, just bewildered. I kept waiting for a group come out with some hidden cameras or something. I still struggle to understand how a functioning adult, who is a store manager to not understand that something purchased 20 months ago, is covered by a 24 month warranty.

I gleefully await the backstory this inspires
