So the kid wants to play the bass guitar...


14 y.o. son has expressed some interest in learning to play the bass guitar. Anyone have any suggestions on picking one up? I've been cruising FB Marketplace and Craigslist for a couple of days, nothing really pops out at me. I was a drummer and don't know jack about guitars.

He is very talented on the piano and picks things up very quickly. I just don't want to dump a ton of money in something he's going to pick up for a couple of months and drop. I fully intend on him taking some lessons to get him going, likely at least for 6 months. That's going to be part of the deal if we do this.

Anyway, anyone with bass experience, what would be a good starter for him to get going on?
