I am not a big lake lure fan though. Too many of the houses are way up on the hill off the water. Good to be a mountain goat. And it always seems to be a slow cruising lake. Great if you like limping around on pontoon boats. Fishing is mediocre at best.

Keowee and Jocassee are not much further away. Both I rate higher than lake lure.

Lake summit is a good one. On the NC/SC border. Most properties have a normal house off the water and a floating boathouse on the water. The boathouses typically have beds, kitchens and other amenities.
