Does he like Nintendo games? That's mainly what you're getting with the


Switch. That's not a bad thing because there are a lot of quality games on it (Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Maker, Pokemon, etc). Also has Marvel Ultimate Alliance as an exclusive which is pretty cool. That's not to say there aren't third party games on there but chances are if there's a game available for Switch and Xbox he'll probably want/get it for Xbox. Switch's main selling points are the Nintendo franchises and the hybrid console/handheld appeal. Also keep in mind that a Switch Lite is basically just a handheld as it doesn't dock/connect to a TV like the regular Switch.
