I can't imagine being a through-hiker coming upon that place and getting all-you-can-eat. One of the few times in their lives when they really might need to build up their fat stores and voila! The Homeplace.

Kind of them to accommodate that crowd, I can't imagine too many dining establishments that would do that. Sure, they had a separate room for them and probably a special set of rules eg, no bringing bags in. but imagine there are folks all over the east coast and beyond that remember that place fondly. It's unique, and no doubt a unique guy, RIP.
