I blame the internet. Truthfully. And the media. And social media...


I think society has always been somewhat mean and disrespectful, but we only knew what was happening in our own little slice of the world. Along comes the internet and now you instantaneously know what's going on everywhere.

And the media, trying to stay afloat, has gone away from true journalism and is always trying not to be right, but to be "first". And to get "clicks", they only report on the most provocative stories.

And the anonymity of social media, makes it possible for anyone to say anything to anyone else with little fear of repercussion.

Not sure if you were looking for a real reason or not, but there's my 2 cents.
