Attendance IS down ...


Peaked in 07 and has been steadily down ever since.

That being said, 68M tickets sold is still an enormous number. Even historically speaking. And much of the lost ticket revenue is converted directly into TV revenue. It isn't that there are fewer fans, it's just that more people watch the games at home.

Also MLB has been on the leading edge of the streaming services market. In 2017 they sold BAMTech to Disney for a couple of billion (that's a B) dollars, and MLB Advanced Media still makes money hand over fist licensing their tech for other purposes.

And merchandising isn't nothing.

Financially speaking, MLB is stronger every single year.
