In light of Will’s credit card story below, can someone explain this?


Tried to get gas at a local Exxon yesterday but pump failed after dispensing only $0.19 worth. Tried another pump but that one wouldn’t pump anything at all after accepting my credit card. I asked clerk to cancel that last transaction as it appeared the pump was still “open”.

Went back today to same station and after inserting my credit card got a “see clerk inside” message. Finally being fed up with that station, I went to the next closest one, also an Exxon. Same message. “See clerk”.

Thinking the cc company had a block on my card, I called them. Nope. Card was fine.

Needing gas I went to one last station, a Sunoco. Card worked fine.

Is it a coincidence that 2 Exxon’s blocked my card or did my asking to have a transaction cancelled at the first Exxon have something to do with it?
