that I was much better off with the new company. Grove (Manitowoc) had the worst culture of anyplace I ever worked. Almost everybody that worked there had been there for 25 years or more and were doing things the way they always had. You could not change anybody's mind about anything, no matter how much data you had. The old timers' attitude about a test failure was inevitably "that's just a fluke, if we don't see it again in the next week we'll call it good". Software was buggy and people had the same attitude. Uhhh... you don't want buggy software when you are moving 100s of tons. Electronic components would inexplicably lose communications and stop moving the load (as it should... if you don't know where the load is or where it is going, stop!). Their solution was to increase the timeout until it was no longer a frequent problem... which was several seconds. If I'm near the edge of my safe operating envelope then several seconds can be a huge deal. And on, and on...
