Tickets bring in over $1.6 million in revenue but they have a $3.8 mil.

deficit. I didn't realize that their entire WBB staff was paid over $3 million a year. South Carolina leads the NCAA in attendance but had a $5.9 million deficit. I didn't realize that those top tier schools spent that much money on WBB, no wonder they are winning. U of L seasons tickets range from $75 for children, $120 for senior citizens, and $135 for adults. So it's pretty much $10 per game. Running the Yum Center alone costs about half of what they bring in ticket sales. That $1.6 million in revenue doesn't even pay for the assistant coaching and support staff. Walz is one of the top WBB coaches but I agree that he's overpaid. Athletics has been trying to increase women's sports (college and professional) visibility. The NCAA and professional women's sports leagues have been trying to make women's sports mainstream. They have lobbied for higher wages and better TV contracts for the past few decades. I guess the NCAA looks at putting more money into women's sports as a future investment? Right now, it's not close to being that. With college football attendance decreasing, that may be even a worse sign for those who want to see more attendance for women's athletic events. Whenever I watch a professional women's sporting event on TV, I see a lot of empty seats unless it's the US women's soccer team hosting an international team in a qualifying match, but those events are well organized. When I watch professional women's soccer, I see lots of empty seats, similar to watching women's college basketball or soccer at 95% of our universities. The interest simply isn't where the advocates of women's athletics want it to be.
